Following the Nina: Love Moves Concert in April of 2023, the meaningful connections formed that evening opened the door to future collaborations in the upcoming year.
On July 26, 2024, in Edmonton, and August 4, 2024, in Dawson Creek, 805 Productions presented Soulful Summer featuring Luke Mejares—a respected figure in the Filipino music scene known for his smooth, soulful vocals and strong roots in R&B and neo-soul. He first gained recognition as the lead vocalist of the band South Border in 1998 and played a pivotal role in the band’s success, contributing to their recognition across the Filipino Music industry. The group earned 18 Katha Music Awards, including Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Pop Song, and Best R&B Song for the hit Sa ‘Yo before Luke eventually pursued a solo career in 2002, where he continued to build a reputation for his expressive style and musical depth.
The Soulful Summer Bar Tour was intentionally curated as a smaller, more intimate gathering where guests were not just part of an audience, but felt at home. The setting allowed for a closer connection between the artist and attendees, creating moments that felt personal, grounded, and present.
Originally planned to perform in two cities, the response to Luke’s return quickly grew beyond expectations. Through collaboration with local producers, 805 Productions expanded its reach across Alberta, as Luke performed in Calgary, Red Deer, Lethbridge, Lloydminster, Bonnyville, Slave Lake, and Fort McMurray, as well as Saskatoon and Regina.
The tour also included several additional special appearances at local events.
Notably, Luke's tour offered Bonnyville its first-ever Filipino concert—an especially meaningful milestone that underscored the importance of making live music more accessible, as the community's overjoyed response made clear how much these experiences can mean.
The event was featured on LakelandToday.ca, a local news outlet highlighting its significance within the Bonnyville Filipino community and ultimately shaping how 805 Productions continues to approach events with an emphasis on connection, accessibility, and community.
